Herne Hill Harriers AGM - October 2008

The club's Annual General Meeting was held on 27 October at St Boniface Hall, Tooting.

Waldy Pauzers has accepted the honour of continuing as President for a second year and number of the club's highly promising youngsters were present to collect awards.

MERIT AWARDS 2008 

This year's merit awards recognise young athletes who achieved exceptional performances during the year. Such was the standard that merit awards winners include internationals, medallists at National championships and athletes who broke club records.

DELE ONIFADE

Dele was 3rd in AAA National U20 championships at Bedford in June to earn a place in the GB relay squad for the World Junior championships. Dele was a regular in our BAL team finishing the season as our top ranked sprinter. Ranked 6th in the country amongst U20 men with 10.63.   

THOMAS ASHBY
 
Thomas enjoyed an outstanding season earning an international vest in September. Thomas finished the season 7th in the national rankings setting a new club record with 6,629 pts which he may have bettered if not suffering an unfortunate error at the English Schools combined events by the team manager when well placed after day one. Thomas improved his PBs all summer to become a vital member of our BAL senior men’s team.    

JULIEN ALLWOOD 

Julien was third in the English Schools Championships at Gateshead, setting a new PB of 14.12m. Julien broke into our BAL team, earning valuable points for the senior men’s team. He ranked 5th in the country, the top first year U17 man and also finished 3rd in the UK School Games in August.

SIMEON RAMSEY GRAHAM
 
Simeon was 3rd in the Intermediate Boys 200m at the English Schools Championships at Gateshead and was also 4th in the 200m and a finalist in 100m at National championships. He placed 13th in the National rankings over 200m.

BRIONY PHILLIPS

Briony set a new club record for junior and senior women in the shot with 12.43m which ranked 8th in the National rankings and she placed in the top 20 in the discus. Briony came to every women’s match during the summer, regularly competing in 3 to 4 events, in each match being a vital member of our National league qualifying team.

HANNAH EDWARDS 

Hannah set club records at 800m and 1500m and finished 8th in the National rankings over 800m, reaching the final of the English Schools and UK Schools Games. Hannah was 2nd in the South of England Championships at 800m and was part of our winning BAL Plate final team, winning the 800m.

KATIE SNOWDEN 

Katie set club records over 800m and an outstanding 400m, fell in the semi finals at the English Schools before getting up to qualify, but finished fourth in the final. She won the South of England 800m Championships and finished 2nd in the National rankings with 2:11.10. Katie was also the first girl to win a team Inter Counties cross country gold medal when part of the winning Surrey County team.
